Mystery perfins - November 2009

A couple of recently acquired Australian private perfins are proving difficult to de-cypher. If you can help, please advise. The one on the left is a 3d with a Late Fee postmark of “..St.Vic” and the right hand one is a 2/- with what appears to be a “...Parcels Office, Sydney” boxed cancel.

Page updates - November 2009

Postal rates for New Zealand have been added and those for Kenya Uganda & Tanganyika have been considerably augmented.

Further sheet numbering data for Fiji 1-1/2d and Somaliland 1r have been added to the table at More between the sheets.

India presentation card - October 2009

Your help is also requested for details of this card, the scan of which has been sent in by Don Chenevert. The inscription reads: “Silver Jubilee commemoration stamps 6th May 1935” and “With the compliments of the Director General of Posts and Telegraphs India.” Any information supplied will be passed on to him.

Egyptian multiple - October 2009

It’s often thought that multiple use of the British Forces seal served no legitimate purpose but Spink’s describe this example as paying for quadruple weight. The envelope is certainly large enough, (10in by 7-1/2in), to carry sufficient weight for perhaps the sender to think it might require the multiple use since it hardly looks to be philatelic. Readers’ input would be most welcome.
