In the Silver Jubilee of King George V Stamps Handbook, the Morocco section mentions a variety where the “Agencies” overprint is raised. The book fails to illustrate this variety because, at the time of publication, its author had never seen one.
For some reason, the variety is only known to exist for the French currency issue and only on the 10 centimes value. Due to the apparent scarcity, one might speculate that the error was later corrected.
A cover recently came to light which shows how marked the overprint difference is.. Normally, the “A” of “Agencies” is approximately on a level with the last “O” of “Morocco”. In the variety, the word “Agencies” is set higher by as much as the whole width of the letter “A”.
In view of the question as to whether the error was later corrected, it is perhaps regrettable that the date of the Casablanca date stamp on this cover is unclear.
